You are invited on a walk through Fenny Compton tunnels, led by Mike Slater of Butterfly Conservation Warwickshire, to hear all about how butterflies are an indicator of a healthy eco-system and provide a wide range of environmental benefits.
Butterfly Conservation Warwickshire works alongside land owners, local authorities, conservation bodies, businesses and local people to raise awareness about the threats to our butterflies and moths. They provide advice and practical help on how to protect these and other threatened wildlife in the county. Several butterflies in the region such as the Small Blue and Wood White are particularly vulnerable due to habitat loss and population fragmentation resulting in small isolated colonies which become increasingly susceptible to local or regional extinction.
Mike Slater will identify the butterflies present in this nature area managed by the group and give information on how to create butterfly-friendly habitats.
