West Mercia Police have recognised that Warwickshire have a very active and successful Horsewatch scheme and work is being undertaken to set a similar scheme up for the West Mercia area. A benefit of the West Mercia affiliation with the Warwickshire police is that the excellent Warwickshire Horsewatch is now open for horse owners in the West Mercia area. Warwickshire and West Mercia forces also recognise that with rural and equine crime, thieves do not respect borders and what happens in one county soon moves across to another. Therefore, alerts from many counties including Worcestershire, Shropshire, Staffordshire, Leicestershire and West Midlands are included on their Facebook page and in their Rural and Horsewatch Crime Alerts Bulletins. You are invited to join the Warwickshire Scheme. To join, please visit the Warwickshire Horsewatch website: www.warwickshire-horsewatch.co.uk The Warwickshire Horsewatch website also provides crime prevention advice sheets on all manner of issues from oil theft and fencing energiser thefts to the keeping of livestock and chickens. You can also download a Record Form to record details of equipment and tack. If you are on Facebook, you can also ‘like’ the Warwickshire Horsewatch Facebook page, to get alerts directly to your Facebook account, about what is happening in rural areas across the Midlands – http://www.facebook.com/WarwiskshireHorseWatch?fref=ts
